Meeting of the minds at Alma the Lighthouse
Our Founder/CEO Ben is delighted to spend time with Pastor Marcelo, Ricardo - a dedicated substance abuse counselor, and lastly Frank, a dedicated business owner.
It was a pleasure to spend time with like-minded individuals who all share the desire to help others and make our city healthier and stronger.

Alma the Lighthouse & Mercy House
Thank you, MERCY HOUSE; Brundage Lane Navigation Center and Mr. Austin Stewart (Community Engagement Specialist) for hosting ALMA the LIGHTHOUSE and ALMA D BEST.
Our team:
D. Ben-Amy: Founder / CEO
Klaus BenAmy-Hackel: Co-Founder/ VP
Alfonso Garcia: Executive Assistant
toured their 1900 E. Brundage Lane facility, we are inspired by all the good and wonderful services they provide. Mr. Austin Stewart is an excellent host who demonstrated passion and great respect for their objective and for the people they assist. We found that our objective at ALMA the LIGHTHOUSE and ALMA D BEST is similar to theirs which is to provide a safe and sober environment to our community members who are dealing with mental health challenges and or are seeking to become and stay sober.
A little about MERCY HOUSE:
- The City of Bakersfield's Brundage Lane Navigation Center (BLNC) was created to address the growing homeless crisis in Bakersfield. The BLNC is a referral-based, low-barrier shelter that offers wrap-around services in order to provide homeless adults a path back to housing and self-sufficiency.
- MERCY HOUSE - Mission Statement: To be a leader in ending homelessness by providing a unique system of dignified housing opportunities, programs, and supportive services.
